At the time you joined Netscape Online you were allocated one of the following two access numbers to dial into the Netscape Online service:

0845 088 7444 or 0845 300 1815

From 14th June 2001, the access number 0845 088 7444 will no longer be available and so you should begin using 0845 300 1815 as soon as possible.

In order to make the transition to the 0845 300 1815 number as easy as possible, we've provided a program which will update the access number in your Netscape Online Launcher for you. Please follow the instructions below to download and install this program onto your PC.

Estimated time to download is 3 minutes on a 56kbps modem.

1. To save this file, click your right mouse button on the download button above and select Save Target As.. A new window will appear on your screen prompting you to select a location on your hard disk to save the file.

2. Click on the arrow next to 'Save In' and choose Desktop from the drop-down menu. Click on the Save button to download the Number Change program.

3. Double-click the telephone icon on your Desktop to launch the Number Change program. Once the update is complete, you should see a message saying, "Your PC is now set up to use Netscape Online."

You can now connect to Netscape Online as normal using the new number.

If you prefer to make the changes yourself, please read the steps below to find out how to change your access number.

Manual Setup

Note: Please ensure that you have read all of the following instructions carefully before making any changes.

First, open the Launcher (by double-clicking the Netscape Online icon on your desktop) and select Dialler Settings. You need to disconnect from the service to make these changes; so you may want to print out this document or save it before you begin.

In the 'Dialler Settings' window click the Properties button.

If you can see 0845 300 1815 in the 'Area code' and 'Telephone number' fields, you do not need to make any changes. Click on the Cancel button until you see the main Launcher window and connect as normal.

If you see 088 7444 in the 'Telephone number' field, delete it and type in the new access number: 300 1815 Click OK.

This returns you to the 'Dialler Settings' window. Now click Cancel.

Important note: If you click OK in the 'Dialler Settings' window, the access number will revert back to the original setting. This is supposed to happen. Pressing Cancel at this stage ensures the Dial-Up Networking connection keeps the new number.

You are now ready to connect to Netscape Online using your new access number.
